I agree with you, makes me wonder if we have ever really elected a President, with all the special interest groups around these days.

    Re: Go get 'em

Both parties are as sorry as the other...When ever a normal guy runs for president, I will vote, but not until somebody who makes less than $100,000 a year runs....I'm willing to bet I never have to vote, what would you say???

On another note, the Democrats are blowing the easiest election they have ever had...All they had to do was send out a normal, caucassion/americann, and they would have won the presidency, hands down...But they are not happy with that, they are sending out Hillary and Obama, congrats Dummies

And they all say that Bush should get the troops out now, yet they admitted that if elected prez they wouldn't be able to get them out until 2013.........
I'm as ready as anyone to see the troops coming home, but it's simply a campaign item with them (ALL of THEM, regardless of party!)....they couldn't care less about the average Joe...

The problem is they haven't been the ones manipulating the nation with lies for the past 8 years...and they didn't have the inside info that the reasons for invading Iraq were bogus....but W did.

Yes ,I do think it was GW that started this thing then laughed it all off , looking between his legs and up his rectum for WMDs. While blowing billions of bucks and thousands of lives. Shouting "Morals" all the while. It will take 40 billion just to replace the worn out hardware, according to some estimates. And the lives can't be replaced.

Bush is an idiot, why can't we get the traffic cops out...promises Bush has made- otherwise just load them up and come home, I'd like to kill him- open the season.Let the folks in Iraq kill each off like they have since Allah.

"It began with a bang and "a huge white blast," in the description of one witness who outlived that Saturday morning, March 29, 2003. At a U.S. Army checkpoint straddling Highway 9, just north of Najaf, four soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Division, part of the initial invasion of Iraq, had started to search an orange-and-white taxicab at 11:30 a.m. when more than 100 pounds of C-4 plastic explosive detonated in the trunk.

The explosion tossed the sedan 15 feet down the road, killing the soldiers, the cabdriver -- an apparent suicide bomber -- and a passerby on a bicycle. Lt. Col. Scott E. Rutter, a battalion commander who rushed to the scene from his command post half a mile away, saw in the smoking crater and broken bodies on Highway 9 "a recognition that now we were entering into an area of warfare that's going to be completely different...
    ""?The single most effective weapon'
IEDs have caused nearly two-thirds of the 3,100 American combat deaths in Iraq, and an even higher proportion of battle wounds. This year alone, through mid-July, they have also resulted in an estimated 11,000 Iraqi civilian casualties and more than 600 deaths among Iraqi security forces. To the extent that the United States is not winning militarily in Iraq, the roadside bomb, which as of Sept. 22 had killed or wounded 21,200 Americans, is both a proximate cause and a metaphor for the miscalculation and improvisation that have characterized the war.

Sept. 20, 2007 - Imagine a universe where a man can gun down women and children anytime he pleases, knowing he will never be brought to justice. A place where morality is null and void, and arbitrary killing is the rule. A place that has been imagined hitherto only in nightmarish dystopian fiction, like "1984,"? or in fevered passages from Dostoevsky"?or which existed during the Holocaust and Stalinist purges and the Dark Ages. Well, that universe exists today. It is called Iraq. And the man who made it possible is George W. Bush.
The moral vacuum of Iraq"?where Blackwater USA guards can kill 10 or 20 Iraqis on a whim and never be prosecuted for it"?did not happen by accident. It is yet another example of something the Bush administration could have prevented with the right measures but simply did not bother about as it rushed into invading and occupying another country. With America's all-volunteer army under strain, the Pentagon and White House knew that regular military cannot be used for guarding civilians. As far back as 2003, then-defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld convened a task force under Undersecretary of Defense David Chu to consider new laws that might be needed to govern the privatization of war. Nothing was done about its recommendations. Then, two days before he left Iraq for good, L. Paul Bremer III, the Coalition Provisional Authority administrator, signed a blanket order immunizing all Americans, because, as one of his former top aides told me, "we wanted to make sure our military, civilians and contractors were protected from Iraqi law."? (No one worried about protecting the Iraqis from us; after all, we still thought of ourselves as the "liberators,"? even though by then the worst abuses at Abu Ghraib and other places were known.)

Nor can these private armies even be prosecuted .....

    Re: Go get 'em

I didn't read this whole thread but:

Iraq had WMD's, they used WMD's against the Kurds. Kinda hard to use what you don't have.

I'm no fan of war and there are alot of downsides to going into Iraq and to being in Iraq but we did get rid of Sadam who (might) have become a major threat to us down the road and who (certainly) was a threat each and every day to the lives of every Iraqi and every other person in the region.

Anyone who now claims that Sadam wasn't a very real threat is simply being disingenuous.

Would I like to see our people come home? Hell yeah!

Would I want to see us pull out while things are highly unstable and Iran take control of Iraq which is nearly certain to happen? No.

We're in a bad situation. There are no easy answers. Anyone who claims there is an easy answer is a liar or naive.
